RIMINI, MIR 2026 IS THE ONLY CENTRAL MEDITERRANEAN TRADE SHOW OF REFERENCE FOR THE B2B AUDIOVISUAL TECHNOLOGY WORLD

• The 2026 edition drew a large crowd with a 15% increase in international attendance

• 114 events over 3 days, including stages, immersive rooms and experiential areas

• MIR Club reaffirms its status as the number one meeting place for the DJ and clubbing world

• AV Connect conquers the System Integration world: the market embraces the new project

Rimini, 14th April 2026 – Today, Rimini Expo Centre saw the close of MIR – Multimedia Integration Expo, an edition that wrote a new chapter for Italian Exhibition Group’s (IEG) leading B2B, audio, video and lighting technology event by bringing together the industry’s most prominent national and international brands. An extraordinary turnout of industry professionals with a 15% increase in international attendance, 10 halls, over 40,000 square meters of exhibition space, more than 140 exhibiting companies and 250 brands and a program of 35 events featuring conferences, master classes and training sessions: figures that confirm Rimini as the beating heart of audiovisual and professional entertainment innovation, and MIR as an unrivalled event in the Central Mediterranean region.

A LIVING ECOSYSTEM: EXPERIENCE AND IMMERSION AT THE CORE

MIR 2026 was a veritable experiential ecosystem with a schedule of 114 events over three days. The Live You Play stages reaffirmed their strategic role amid technology, performance and business; the Immersive Rooms offered high-profile multisensory experiences; and the outdoor Sound Power area transformed every demo into an open-air performance. MIRILLUMINO, the first immersive format specifically for Lighting Design, also made its debut. Its blend of culture, aesthetics and technology, together with the enthusiastic response from the public, has already confirmed its future.

BEYOND THE EXHIBITION: TRAINING AND NETWORKING

MIR is not just a trade show but a place where the industry’s professional community can meet, update, and grow. The 35 events, featuring conferences, master classes, and training sessions, turned every day into a concrete opportunity for professional development and debate. An approach that, as part of Italian Exhibition Group’s heritage, characterizes all of the Group’s events, creating real value for the industries each one represents. It is no coincidence that the event concluded with “Backstage on Stage,” a roundtable discussion organised by Prostand Corporate Academy and ObService — an institution accredited by the Emilia-Romagna Region — on the role of training in the trade show and events sector. The event opened with official greetings from the Mayor of Rimini, Jamil Sadegholvaad and was attended by Vincenzo Colla, Vice President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, who spoke on the connection between public policies, economic development, and the promotion of skills; Corrado Peraboni, CEO of IEG; and Roberto Bondioli, CEO of Prostand, who shared an industrial and operational perspective developed within the trade show system with a particular focus on the role of continuous education, skills certification processes, and the integration of D&I principles into corporate strategies. Also on stage were occupational psychologist Carmelina Fierro, Oriana Ciarrocchi, president of the ItalShow Scientific Committee, and Chiara Mussoni, director of Ob Service - Città dei Maestri.

MIR CLUB: THE FOURTH EDITION CONSECRATES CLUBBING

For the fourth consecutive year, MIR Club has been the only real meeting point for the world of professional DJing and clubbing. An event within an event that has captured the attention of the entire industry – from hardware manufacturers to artists, distributors and club owners – in a format that combines education, networking and entertainment like no other in Italy. Attendance at MIR Club events was once again excellent, proving just how indispensable this space has become for those working in the world of electronic music and nighttime entertainment.

AV CONNECT: SYSTEM INTEGRATION IS LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

The new AV Connect project generated considerable interest among System Integration professionals and was enthusiastically received by an audience that saw it as a practical response to the integration and technological convergence challenges that the market currently poses to businesses. The programme took shape through 7 round tables and conference events with in-depth vertical discussions that enabled operators to delve into the sector’s most relevant issues, thus favouring direct dialogue between experts, companies and professionals. An important sign that charts a clear direction for future editions.

MIR, THE ONLY TRADE SHOW OF REFERENCE FOR THE CENTRAL MEDITERRANEAN

The data and feedback gathered at the close of this edition confirm MIR as the Mediterranean region’s number one trade show in terms of scale, visitor numbers and exhibitors for the professional audiovisual technology sector. The number of international visitors underscores the global reach of an event that has, over time, built a solid reputation recognised far beyond national borders. All the sector’s leading Italian and international brands once again chose Rimini as their preferred platform to showcase their latest innovations and engage with the market.

NEXT APPOINTMENT IN 2027

The energy of this edition is already looking to the future. The organising team is hard at work to make MIR 2027 even more ambitious, engaging, and innovative. Next year’s event will take place at Rimini Expo Centre from 4th to 6th April 2027: new technologies, new formats and new business and training opportunities are already in the pipeline to write yet another successful chapter.

THE CURTAIN HAS RISEN ON MIR 2026 THE RIMINI SHOW PUTS THE FUTURE OF LIVE ENTERTAINMENT ON STAGE

  • Until Tuesday 14th April, technological innovation and multimedia integration take centre stage at a top business and training hub
  • Creativity and Artificial Intelligence: immersive language evolution at the heart of the debate, and anticipation for tomorrow’s keynote events

Rimini, 12th April 2026 – From DJ culture to virtual reality, artificial intelligence applied to music creation, and audio, video and lighting technologies for major international live events. Plus, immersive systems that redefine stage area perception and the behind-the-scenes aspects of major live events such as Marco Mengoni’s tour. The ninth edition of MIR – Multimedia Integration Expo, the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) event for live entertainment solutions and technologies, started today at Rimini Expo Centre, opening its doors to an atmosphere of vibrant energy. The only experiential hub in Italy, the show is able to translate all the new languages of entertainment into cutting-edge innovation and emotion.

THE NEW FRONTIERS OF ENTERTAINMENT BETWEEN AI AND VIRTUAL REALITY

At MIR 2026, innovation is not merely on display: it is analysed, discussed, and put to the test across all possible trajectories for the future of entertainment. The “Suno o Suono?” conference demonstrated how the generative Suno AI platform is becoming a concrete testing ground for music production and could redefine the role of the producer. Continuing in this vein, the afternoon will also feature a virtual reality DJing experience with AlphaTheta and Tribe XR, which takes music-making into immersive environments, expanding the possibilities for learning, experimentation and performance.  The panel debate entitled “The Future of the Entertainment Industry: Current State and New Perspectives”, which will involve three authoritative and complementary voices from the industry at the AV Connect Arena, namely Alberto Kellner Ongaro, owner of Laser Entertainment, Elisa Dominici of Droneshow Italy and Monica Bua, Sales Manager for Video Projectors at Epson Italia, will focus on the idea that immersiveness is not a matter of technology, but of balance between content and effect, spectacle and participation. The discussion will explore the trends that are reshaping entertainment, from media integration to hybrid formats, right through to drone shows as a sustainable and spectacular form of expression.

TOMORROW’S MAIN EVENTS

Considering its latest developments, tomorrow will once again feature AI as a central theme at MIR 2026 with the event “The Eyes… and Ears of Artificial Intelligence”. Marco Osnato, President of the Sixth Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, and Christian Pieretto, President of SIEC, are expected to take part in a discussion that will go beyond the traditional narrative on artificial intelligence. This will be followed by the “Human After All?” conference with a debate on the relationship between AI and the music, entertainment and digital content industries. Tomorrow will also feature music master classes with Saturnino, Mark The Hammer and Boosta, as well as the immersive MIRIllumino format: the anonymous light exhibition in which the audience will assess sound system quality and colour rendering.

During the event, diplomas will be awarded to Sound Engineers (2025) and certificates to Wood Technologists (2026), underscoring the direct link between qualified training and job opportunities.

With this first-class event, Prostand Exhibition will strengthen its ties with the trade show, not only as a leading provider of temporary architecture, but also as a driver of growth for the entire sector through the Prostand Corporate Academy. Comunicato n. 7 del 02/04/2026

THE ENTERTAINMENT MARKET IN ITALY: CONSOLIDATED RECOVERY AND NEW CONSUMPTION MODELS

A 4-million-euro industry: Italian entertainment is growing amid live experiences, new generations and technological innovation

Rimini, 12-14 April 2026 – The Italian live entertainment industry, whose flagship event is MIR – Multimedia Integration Expo, organised by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group, is consolidating its economic and social importance. In general, the entire cultural sector has reached a historic milestone with an estimated total turnover of around €4 billion and monthly per capita cultural spending at €94 this year compared to €90 in 2024, marking a recovery driven by the younger generations and consumption models increasingly focused on physical experiences and technological innovation.

DANCE HALLS AND NIGHTCLUBS: A TURNOVER OF MORE THAN €2 BILLION

The Italian dance hall and nightclub sector, which comprises some 2,500 active businesses across the country, is still a significant economic asset with a total turnover in excess of €2 billion. Of this figure, €500 million come from direct revenue, whilst a further €1.5 billion is generated by related industries, supporting a workforce of around 50,000 employees. With over 34 million patrons a year, the sector responds to a constant social demand: 88.7% of Italians say they go out at least once a week for leisure, and of these, almost 39% choose dancing with one in three Italians regularly going to nightclubs. At the ninth edition of MIR, it is clear that the future of the sector lies in a hybridisation. Indeed, the most popular choice of location is a combination between traditional clubbing and other types of venue such as live music bars and beach clubs, outlining new business models able to integrate technological innovation, musical offerings and new forms of hospitality.

SILB‑FIPE / Confcommercio data on summer 2025

CONSUMER TRENDS AND PARTICIPATION: THE VALUE OF THE LIVE EXPERIENCE

Italian habits paint a cultural picture in which, alongside watching television programmes and films at home, which accounts for 93% of the population, listening to music, whether live or at home, is enjoyed by 83% of those interviewed. The figures relating to social activities are particularly significant: 42% of Italians attend outdoor shows and 39% go to concerts. Cinema accounts for 48%. To be more precise, the entertainment sector confirmed an extremely positive growth trend over the past year with the cinema reporting a particularly noteworthy performance with a total 31 million admissions in the first six months of 2025, an increase of 11%, and box office takings of €228.4 million. Positive results were also seen in the concerts segment, which, with 7.3 million attendees and growth of 1.6%, generated revenues of €256.5 million, as well as in the theatre sector, which recorded an increase of 3.9% with 15.4 million attendees and total box office takings of €325 million.

TOWARDS SUMMER 2026: THE 2025 NUMBERS

In the summer of 2025, the Italian nightlife sector recorded an estimated turnover growth of between 3 and 4% compared with the previous year, confirming the nightclub sector as one of the driving forces behind Italian tourism and culture. This positive trend is particularly pronounced in southern Italy and the islands, driven by tourism and the quality of the offering. In 2024, the sector had already generated nearly €500 million in revenue with over 34 million visitors and more than 200,000 events. The survey also highlighted the central role of the summer season with around 40% of total spending concentrated between June and August, and the importance of investing in venue safety, inclusivity and quality of experience.

Comunicato n. 6 del 02/04/2026

IEG, AT MIR 2026, TECHNOLOGY TAKES THE STAGE WITH LIVE YOU PLAY

·       From 12-14 April at Rimini Expo Centre, four halls with active stages on which to test live audio, lighting and video systems in real operational conditions

·       Immersive sessions for three-dimensional audio and an outdoor area to evaluate open-air sound power will be back at the Italian Exhibition Group event

·       A unique format that transforms the show into a hands-on experience for technicians, designers and industry professionals

Rimini, 12.14 April 2026 – Back at Rimini Expo Centre, Live You Play, the exclusive format of MIR - Multimedia Integration Expo - an IEG - Italian Exhibition Group event where, instead of looking at the stage from a distance, visitors can cross it, listen and study right down to the smallest detail. Every element, from the supporting structures to the audio systems, lighting and videos, is real, switched on and installed, exactly like at a real concert. Not a simulation, not a prototype on display but a full-blown live production, designed to be analysed by those who devise and create that production every day. An ideal place for technicians, sound engineers, operators and designers who want to test above and below stage technologies, discover real workflows and converse directly with the specialists who conceived them.

FOUR STAGES, FOUR EXPERIENCES

The heart of the 2026 edition will beat in four halls entirely dedicated to live indoor performances, each with its own identity and technological vocation. Hall C1 will feature the art of integrated systems. Here the public will be able to see a setup in which the power of line array audio systems will merge with the visual impact of LED walls and the luminous design of the stage fixtures in a dialogue between technologies that shows how the true key to a quality production currently lies in integration between different sectors. Hall C2, on the other hand, will become a realm of dynamic entertainment between DJ sets and immersive live shows with an ecosystem in which lights, special effects and transparent LED surfaces will work in perfect synchrony with the audio systems, while spectacular light shows will put the potential of latest generation controllers to the test. Every aspect of electronic music and the most advanced live production will be housed in hall C3 through original formats such as The LightWalker and Live Busking sessions, which will explore the potential of timecode and synchronization workflows with robotic lighting systems, media servers and high-resolution LED surfaces that show how far technical creativity has come and what it can achieve.

Last but not least, Live You Play will bring the future of sound to the stage with the latest frontiers in immersive audio in hall C4, where the star attraction will be technology that uses machine learning to transform classic stereo setups into totally immersive spatial experiences, redefining the very concept of listening in a clubbing and live context.

IMMERSIVE ROOMS AND SOUND POWER: BEYOND THE STAGE

The experience will be completed with two complementary areas. Immersive Rooms will offer guided listening sessions to explore the potential of three-dimensional audio applied both to live events and permanent installations in theatres and prestigious architectural spaces, a sensorial laboratory where sound is no longer simple diffusion, but a physical body that envelops the listener. The external Sound Power area will feature testing systems for large open spaces in real conditions. Sound pressure, tone rendering and coverage uniformity are measured in the field, providing designers and sound engineers with a concrete and immediate reference.

IEG: MIR 2026 IGNITES THE DEBATE ON MAN AND CREATIVE MACHINE IN THE ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

·       The IEG event, at Rimini Expo Centre from 12–14 April, will host the conference entitled “Human After All?”,  a reflection on the future of creativity in the age of artificial intelligence

·       Technological innovation and human talent will take centre stage at Italy’s leading event for entertainment and creative industry technologies

·        MIRIllumino will make its debut: the anonymous technical challenge that puts lighting technologies to the test, regardless of brand

Rimini, 12-14 April 2026 – In a historic moment when artificial intelligence is radically redefining creative, production and distribution processes, MIR – Multimedia Integration Expo 2026 has decided to question one of the most pressing issues of our time: the role of man in the face of increasingly creative machines. Organised by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group and scheduled to take place from 12th to 14th April 2026 at Rimini Expo Centre, Italy’s leading event on technologies for the entertainment and creative industries will include a structured reflection on the relationship between technological innovation and artistic talent, placing the conference entitled “Human After All? Man and machine at the heart of the future of contemporary creativity” at the centre of the three-day event.

HUMAN AFTER ALL? CREATIVITY IN THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Nowadays, machines no longer merely assist humans; they learn, compose, generate images, write texts and create music. In an age where innovation is increasingly measured in terms of data and algorithms, MIR 2026 will put the focus back on people, highlighting how the real difference lies not only in the ability to produce content, but in the uniquely human capacity to interpret, evoke emotion and give meaning to technology. The “Human After All?” event, scheduled for Monday 13th April at 12 noon during the IEG Show, originates precisely from this tension, and, while not meant as a confrontation between man and machine, will offer a reflection on the new forms of co-creation that are redefining contemporary creativity. The conference will be a key event in this rapidly evolving landscape for those working in the performing arts, the audiovisual sector, live entertainment and immersive environments, who interact on a daily basis with tools based on AI, automation and intelligent systems. Given that understanding this change is no longer an option but a professional and cultural responsibility, the event offers a vision of the future of creativity in the modern era by posing a question that is bound to lead the debate in the coming years.

MIRILLUMINO: WHEN THE PRODUCTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES

Alongside its theoretical and visionary elements, MIR 2026 will also present MIRIllumino, a unique and unprecedented immersive format, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in Hall A6. As part of LD@Work, organised by lighting designers Giovanni Pinna and Marco Zucchinali, this area, entirely dedicated to lighting technology and innovation, will involve a highly qualified audience of technical lighting designers, lighting system programmers, set designers, technicians and creatives, invited to express a satisfaction rating based purely on visual experience. The heart of the event will be an authentic shoot-out between products completely “stripped” of their brand, name and model. The lights, concealed and physically unrecognisable, will be assessed solely on their performance in terms of light quality, colour rendering, power, precision and spatial behaviour. In this context, it will be the light and not the brand that speaks. The next day, discussion will shift from the visual to the analytical with a Round Table session between various lighting designers with the aim of exploring, through direct dialogue, the technical and creative criteria that lead to choosing one product over another. The technical challenge thus becomes a topic of discussion. What the audience saw and assessed will be re-examined, interpreted and discussed by the experts, transforming the experience into shared content.

·       Key features will include leading figures in Italian music such as Saturnino, Boosta and Andro, alongside Luca Agnelli’s console workflows and the Italian premiere of the Meet the Industry event

Rimini, 12-14 April 2026 – With MIR – Multimedia Integration Expo, the  IEG – Italian Exhibition Group event scheduled to take place from 12th to 14th April 2026 at Rimini Expo Centre, MIR Club will be back for its fourth edition. This area, the heart of electronic music and DJ culture, will transform the South Hall into a hub of creativity, training and networking, where emerging talents and established artists can meet, experiment with the latest cutting edge technologies and share unique experiences with enthusiasts and industry professionals.

DJ CULTURE MAGIC IN AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENTIAL AREA

MIR Club will be back to provide a tangible and accessible experience in DJ culture and electronic music, in partnership with DJ Mag Italia, for an event set in an immersive environment that will take visitors on a journey to explore the languages, techniques and values of contemporary DJing. The largest free-entry DJ console exhibition ever held in Italy, which will once again enliven the Experience Arena, will make participation even more unique by allowing visitors to test all the market’s  latest innovations in digital and analogue mixing.

LECTURES WITH GREAT MASTERS AND THE BEAT OF PERFORMANCE

The area will further enhance its offer by combining top-quality training sessions with pure entertainment. The event’s live focus will kick off on Sunday 12th April led by DJ KOWU’s exploration into the art of the mashup and DJ Aladyn’s electrifying Selectavision show, featuring live bass lines performed by Saturnino. Monday 13th April will see the debut of Masterclab, an educational programme on integration between live and studio-produced electronic music. Taking to the stage will be exceptional artists such as Saturnino, joined by Fresco, Boosta from Subsonica, ready to explore the world of hardware synths and DAWs, and Mark The Hammer, the hugely popular YouTuber, with his secrets for the ideal setup. Monday’s line-up will be rounded off with the exclusive Inside the Booth session with Luca Agnelli, who will be ready to reveal his creative approach, supported by the latest AlphaTheta technology, alongside exciting challenges such as the Open Format DJ Battle and the new Cutting Club format, a vibrant knockout scratch competition.

TALENT SCOUTING, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND TECH INNOVATION

MIR Club will also confirm its role as a key hub for professional development and critical debate. Sunday 12th April will once again feature the Demolition Panel, Italy’s most famous musical speed-date event, where young producers will be able to play their unreleased tracks to a panel of top-class judges, including the likes of Andro from Negramaro, Alex Gaudino, Albert Marzinotto and record executive Max Moroldo. On the same day, technological innovation will take centre stage at the “Suno o Suono?” panel, a much-needed discussion on the opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence in music production, led by Roberto Intrallazzi and Luca Provera from The Cube Guys, alongside Chicca Leaf, Max Giorgetti and Simone Barbaresi. There will also be plenty of opportunities to explore the Metaverse thanks to the virtual reality experience created by AlphaTheta and Tribe. However, the highlight of the technical programme will take place on Tuesday 14th April: following a session on the current market offer organised by DJ Mag Tech Tools, the world premiere of Meet the Industry will take centre stage. For the first time in Italy, designers and product specialists from legendary brands such as Pioneer DJ, Technics, Arturia, Focusrite and Allen & Heath will share the same stage for a direct and in-depth dialogue with the audience.

THE CULTURE OF ANALOGUE IN THE TECHNICS VINYL LOUNGE

Striking a perfect balance with the drive towards the digital future, MIR Club will celebrate the tactile and historic essence of music in the Technics Vinyl Lounge. This intimate area, loosely inspired by Japanese listening bars, will be open for the duration of the show, restoring central importance to music listening time. Through strictly analogue workshops and sessions, vinyl will become the centrepiece of an experience dedicated to audiophiles and collectors. This fascinating narrative will be further enlivened by Simone Barbaresi’s histrionic performances on 7-inch records, scheduled for Sunday and Tuesday; the refined, all-vinyl set presented by Mary Gehnyei on Monday; and the grand finale entrusted to Roberto Intrallazzi. The founder of Cube Recordings will be tasked with bringing the event to a close, returning the essence of international club culture to the heart of the exhibition.

Rimini, 12-14 April 2026 The ninth edition of MIR – Multimedia Integration Expo, organised by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) from 12th to 14th April 2026 at Rimini Expo Centre, comes at a time of rapid evolution in integrated technologies and multimedia design. By fostering dialogue between expertise, technologies and content, the event is now a consolidated reference point for the corporate, education, museum, retail, broadcast, entertainment and live event sectors.

THREE SECTIONS FOR A COMPLETE EXPERIENCE: THE MIR 2026 FORMAT

At MIR 2026, three main areas will define the show’s  evolved identity, reinforcing its role as a strategic hub for professionals and creatives operating in the multimedia industry. The first will focus on audio, video and lighting with the usual Live You Play format, which allows participants to test technologies directly on four professional stages. It will also include Sound Power, the extended outdoor high-sound-pressure zone, and the Immersive Rooms with immersive demonstrations and spatial audio. MIR’s training platform for industry professionals will also be back: master classes and conferences for key figures in “Live” productions, from lighting designers to sound engineers and riggers, thus connecting technologies, design skills, and specialized applications. The second area is called MIR Club, a meeting place for professionals and enthusiasts of DJing and club culture. Created in collaboration with DJ Mag Italia and now at its fourth edition, this participatory space for music makers and music event enthusiasts, will encourage the exchange of ideas, skills and new projects. The area comes alive with DJ sets, master classes and competitions with key sector players such as DJ Kowu, DJ Aladyn, Saturnino, Luca Agnelli, Boosta, Mark The Hammer and Roberto Intrallazzi, featuring vinyl, live electronic music, and technology from AlphaTheta, Arturia and Focusrite. Here visitors will be able to see operational and interoperable systems, consult with qualified integrators and designers, learn about industry standards and best practices, and evaluate concrete options for professional implementations.

THE DEBUT OF AV CONNECT

AV Connect, the new trade show initiative for professional audio-video and system integration, will be making its debut at MIR 2026 as a specialised section within the event. Organised in collaboration with SIEC and the industry’s leading brands, it aims to be a reference point for system integrators, designers and decision-makers who are in search of practical, ready-to-implement solutions. Not just an exhibition, but an experiential ecosystem where technologies are tested while in action, including operating systems, immersive environments and real-life settings. A hub that brings together innovation, networking and expertise, offering a comprehensive overview of the evolution of professional AV amid advanced integration, AV-over-IP standards, and new models for connected and hybrid environments.

IA AND IMMERSIVE DESIGN, HOW TO CREATE NEW EXPERIENCES AND DEVISE NEW SPACES

The ninth edition of MIR will be an open laboratory, a place for experimentation and innovation where artists, professionals and innovators will be able to address the very latest creativity and design challenges. With technologies that interact with people and environments that stimulate all the senses, the event will become an immersive vantage point for observing the ongoing changes: how our experience of creating, seeing, and living spaces is changing, even as artificial intelligence enters creative processes and multisensory design shapes our living and working environments.
